“Co-production is not just a word, it’s not just a concept. It is a meeting of minds coming together to find a shared solution.”

In the past, services and programmes were often developed and delivered without meaningful input from the people they set out to help. But there has been a growing realisation that this can make services impersonal and inflexible. Asking people what they want or need from a service and then working with them to implement it seems like the obvious thing to do. But it’s not necessarily the easiest, especially when working with limited time and resources, and within established systems, practices and cultures.

Co-production is at the heart of the work of Sheffield Flourish, a local charity that blends digital and creative activities to support people with their mental health. Our next free masterclass, open to anyone registered with the Social Enterprise Exchange programme, will be led by the charity’s Managing Director, Josie Soutar, and will provide an overview of the principles and practicalities of co-production. The event will be held on the morning of Thursday 11th May at The Circle in Sheffield City Centre.

At this interactive session, you’ll find out more about how Sheffield Flourish work with their community to design, deliver and evaluate their activities, and get the chance to explore how your enterprise could benefit from taking a similar approach. The session will begin with breakfast and an opportunity to network with other social enterprises. There’ll be additional chances to network and to discuss your learning with others throughout the morning.

To access this valuable free CPD you must be registered with the Social Enterprise Exchange programme and your business must be based in the Sheffield City Region area. If you have questions about the event or registration please email pete@ssen.org.uk or call 07548 831962.
