Come and find out what drives Stephen Harrison, founder of Stephen Harrison Academy, a ground-breaking social enterprise based in Sheffield since 2007 which has developed and demonstrates the social impact of innovative methods using snooker as a fun way to engage and offering mentoring and employment opportunities for a wide variety of disadvantaged groups.

Stephen is a former professional snooker player of 12 years. His love for snooker was instilled in him from a young age travelling the world with his father – paraplegic World Champion Ray Harrison. Steve is passionate about making the sport accessible to all and using snooker as a tool to support disadvantaged groups and change lives for the better.

The Stephen Harrison Academy (SHA) is distinguished by the creativity of its founder who has been recognised for his amazing work and awarded an MBE. SHA support progression through a variety of routes from volunteering to help with snooker, working in catering or learning practical employment skills such as customer service.

In this session, Steve will share his passion about making sport accessible to all, how he has used snooker as a tool to make this a reality and how he has utilised the Government Kickstart programme to support individuals with disabilities to get into employment.
